The subject, beyond the couple, is their relationship and what that represents. It could be their shared interests or a place where they love to be together. Step out of the studio and find some places that will allow for movement, such as an amusement park ride or a merry-go-round. The sunset at the beach will always hold interest and appeal. The couple can still be the focal point without needing to be centered, especially if perspective can play a role in the composition such as capturing their shared view of the future as they watch the sunset.

The couple at a private table in a restaurant appearing in the corner of the shot speaks to their closeness. Shoot at length with candle light in the foreground. There are bound to be telling smiles that can be captured offset with a close-up profile of one that has the other face-front in the background. Play with perspectives.
