They should have movie theaters where they can play practically any movie ever. Then you go and pay $100, $200 or whatever, choose the movie and watch it with your beotch.

Why can't "Choose Your Own Adventure" be invented as part of the movie experience? Writers/producers could create and film 1 to 20+ different alternate versions. Then movie theaters would outfit every seat with a control with two buttons. The movie would stop at a certain point and then show a message asking the audience what decision they think a character should make (should they move or not, what job should they take, should they get married or not, etc.). Each member of the audience could vote and then the poll results would be displayed on the screen and the more popular option would have that version shown. There could also be later votes which would make for more forks in the movie plot. This would make for more ticket sales as moviegoers would see the same film over and over to have a chance at seeing different versions of it.

Then when the movie comes out on DVD it would have the same versions available. Viewers hit different keys on the remote to control the plot shown.  Charge more for the DVD's which have the new feature.

Vanity Scenes

This idea combines the fact that people are willing to pay to get their name in print (vanity publishing) with the fact that movie studios are already willing to let companies pay for product placement. To make it work a production company or studio would offer a new product - people placement (names) in movies.

1. People would be charged an amount based on how big they wanted their name to appear on the screen. A name on the list of names an actor looks at on the call box outside of an apartment building would cost just a little, a poster advertising a new perfume in a subway station would cost more, an advertisement for Wally's World of Widgets on the side of a bus would cost even more, and at the top of the line you could buy a billboard for Last Chance Larry's Pet Shop and Wholesale Meat Company.

2. The price of these people placements would be high enough to take care of whatever it cost to produce the actual display plus a reasonable margin.

3. Buyers would be able to pick the type of movie they want the name to appear in so if a guy was buying it as a gift for his girlfriend he could make sure her name showed up in a romantic movie and not a horror movie.

4. Allowances would made for deleted scenes. This could be handled by moving a name that's been used to the bottom of the waiting list and only dropping it off when it actually appears in a movie. If the scene the name was in gets deleted during editing then that name would move back up to the top of the list to make sure it made it to the big screen.

Saved Seat Flag

Is that seat taken? Is that seat taken? Is that seat taken...

This idea would keep you from having to ask that question over and over again in a crowded theater when you're looking for an available seat, and also keep you from having to answer it over and over again when you're saving a seat for someone. The way it is now, people usually put a jacket, pocketbook, ticket stub or something along those lines in the seat they want to save. The problem with these things is that you have to get pretty close before you see them (if you see them at all), wasting your time when you're trying to find a seat.

The 'saved seat flag' would fix that. Each seat would have a small, thin vertical tube attached to the front of its armrest. When you pulled a tab on its top a pole about 18" high would come up out of it. Once free from the confining tube a hinged flag would drop down, displaying a flag that clearly said 'RESERVED.'  To put the pole back into its tube you'd just press in a tab at the bottom that was resting on the lip of tube (this would also make it easy for ushers to put them back in place in between shows too if kids had pulled them a bunch of them up on their way out as a prank).

Tired of the Same Old Scene

Bits and pieces that people would like to see...

It doesn't take seeing a lot of movies to realize you're beginning to see some common elements that keep popping up. Car chases are a good example. They're a common element in many movies and usually something ends up getting in between the chased and the chasers.

This website would give screenwriters a new source of material to draw inspiration from and give the general public a place to send snippets of scenes they've thought up that might fit into a movie somewhere. For instance, I once knew a guy who said that if he ever decided to commit suicide he'd do it by skydiving out of an airplane and try to land right on top of one of the castle spires at Disneyworld. Never seen that in a movie yet.  It's a gross example, but it's the kind of new thing one might expect to pop up on that website. If they turned your idea into a scene you'd at least be able to pat yourself on the back for giving people something new to watch.

There should be a central website you can visit to see all the movies currently in production that are offering bit parts to fans through contests. J.J. Abrams did a contest like this for a part in Star War: Episode VII. They could also auction off bit parts. For the blockbusters if some rich dudes want to pay millions to be in it it might give them a little more for the budget so they can make a better movie. Get the fans involved!

The 7 Swindlers

A la The Magnificent 7 or Ocean's 11... The victims of a fraud turn the tables and take down a company like Enron by scamming the execs back using a team of an accountant, undercover cop, salesman, magician, etc. who were fired for being too honest.

A movie where a guy meets all the kids he would have fathered if he got every girl he ever slept with pregnant. Ha! There's a nightmare for ya.

Why not add the titles of movies to the ending credits? We've all started watching a movie on tv midway through, watched it all the way to the end and wondered what the name of it was so we could see the rest next time it was on or buy the dvd.

Redbox should also rent out portable DVD player/viewers, those things that open up like a laptop and have a mini screen. Those would kick ass on long trips and all!
